Modular Shoes for Refugee Camps.
Quality of footwear in refugee camps is generally poor and distribution of donated shoes is complex and time consuming.
Through research online and conversations with volunteers for both British Red Cross and Help Refugees I built up a detailed "As-Is Scenario" for how donated shoes are currently distributed in refugee camps and identified pain points to be addressed.
There was often a disparity between UK and EU sizes so refugees would sometimes have to try several pairs before they found shoes that fit. A "To-Be Scenario" was mapped out to find a more streamlined solution.
The most common shoe sizes required were UK 7-9, therefore the Nomad Shoe satisfies sizes UK 6-10, and is predominantly black, as black shoes are always the most popular within the camps.
